LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Wesleyan Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Jerod Peters as its new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Peters brings a proven track record of athlete development and data-driven programming across all levels of college athletics, and will lead the performance training for NWU's 21 varsity teams.
Peters arrives in Lincoln after serving as Assistant Athletic Performance Coach, and later Interim Head Coach, at Allegheny College. While there, he oversaw training programs for multiple varsity programs including baseball, lacrosse, basketball, and more. Peters also spearheaded data collection and performance tracking initiatives across the department.
Prior to Allegheny, Peters spent two years as a Graduate Assistant at Tennessee State University, where he worked closely with football and track & field while managing all performance-related data for the football program. His earlier stops include a professional internship at the University of New Mexico and time with the University of Alabama's strength staff, gaining experience with high-level football, baseball, track & field, and women's soccer athletes.
"We're excited to welcome Jerod to Nebraska Wesleyan," said Director of Athletics Dwight Merilatt. "His passion for athlete development, attention to detail, and ability to build strong relationships stood out throughout the search process. He brings a skill set that will elevate the training experience for all our student-athletes."
A Nebraska native, Peters is a graduate of Concordia University Nebraska, where he earned a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology. He later completed his MBA at Tennessee State. He holds multiple certifications, including NSCA-CSCS, USA Weightlifting Level 1, and Red Cross CPR/First Aid.
At Nebraska Wesleyan, Peters will lead all facets of strength and conditioning, including sport-specific programming, injury prevention strategies, and in-season and offseason development. He will work closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and student-athletes to maximize physical performance across all Prairie Wolves teams.
