Softball Begins Four Game Road Trip at Wartburg Saturday

Lincoln, NE (April 24th, 2025)- Nebraska Wesleyan is set to begin a four game road trip at Wartburg on Saturday. 
 
LOCATION, GAME TIME, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan will visit Wartburg on Saturday, April 26th, with game one set for 1:00 p.m., and game two to follow at 3:00 p.m. Wartburg's team1sports page will live stream both games, Wartburg will carry live stats.

SCOUTING NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday afternoon on a five game winning streak and boasts a 25-8 overall record. The Prairie Wolves have posted a .343/.406/.464 slash line, with 198 runs scored on 291 hits. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves hold a .963 fielding percentage, with 624 put outs. Nebraska Wesleyan's pitching duo consisting of Elise Warneke, and Eva Fahrnbruch who have combined to win 24 games while recording 121 strikeouts. As a team, NWU has recorded nine shut outs.

HEAD COACH MARY YORI
Head Coach Mary Yori is in her tenth season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan's softball program. Yori was hired as Nebraska Wesleyan's first full time head softball coach in June of 2015. In ten seasons as head coach, Yori has complied a 202-147 record and was the 2016 AD3I All-Independent Co-Coach of the Year in her first season leading the Prairie Wolves. Yori coached Nebraska Wesleyan to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2022. Last season, Yori helped lead the team to a 26-11 record and an A-R-C tournament appearance. Coach Yori also had five athletes named to the A-R-C All-Conference Team, with Lyndsey Roth and Val Gerlach also earning NFCA All-Region Third Team honors. 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN SOFTBALL TRADITION
Nebraska Wesleyan's lone conference championship occurred in 1986. That season saw Nebraska Wesleyan post an 8-4 conference record in the NIAC. Nebraska Wesleyan's only NCAA tournament appearance occurred in 2022. That season saw Nebraska Wesleyan go 23-16 overall, and 8-8 in American Rivers Conference Play. 

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Wartburg enters Saturday with a 19-13 record. The Knights have lost their last three games. Through 32 games, Wartburg has posted a slash line of .305/.382/.427, while scoring 178 runs on 258 hits. Defensively, the Knights have a .948 fielding percentage with 622 put outs. Wartburg's pitchers have combined to post an ERA of 4.80. The Knights are coached by Jamie Mueller, in her 10th season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST WARTBURG
Saturday will mark the 17th and 18th meetings between Nebraska Wesleyan and Wartburg. The Knights hold a 12-4 all-time series advantage.
