LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University men's basketball standout Jack Groeteke was named the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors, headlining a trio of Prairie Wolves recognized by the league on Wednesday. Carter Glenn joined Groeteke on the First Team, while Conner Brown secured a spot on the Second Team. The awards, voted on by the conference's head coaches, were announced following the A-R-C tournament, which Nebraska Wesleyan was runner up.
Groeteke, a senior forward, anchored the Prairie Wolves' defense, leading the A-R-C in blocks (2.2 per game) and ranking 14th in rebounds (5.2 per game). His ability to disrupt opponents' offenses was pivotal in Nebraska Wesleyan finishing the regular season with the conference's top-ranked scoring defense, allowing just 63.3 points per game. Offensively, Groeteke averaged 14.5 points and shot 49.3% from the field, earning his first career First Team selection.
Glenn, a senior guard, joined Groeteke on the First Team after a stellar season. He was second for the Prairie Wolves in scoring (13.4 points per game) and leads the team in assists (3.2 per game), while shooting 33% from beyond the arc. Glenn's clutch performances included a 22-point outing in a key win over now top-five ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse. Glenn also led the Prairie Wolves to two-wins over the regular season A-R-C Champion University of Dubuque. Glenn also had a 17-point outing in a home victory over Loras, helping Nebraska Wesleyan secure the No. 2 seed in the A-R-C Tournament. This marks his second consecutive First Team honor.
Brown, a senior wing, earned Second Team recognition after a breakout season. He averaged 9.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, showcasing his versatility on both ends of the floor. Brown's 11-point, 11-rebound double-double against now top-five ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse at the beginning of the season was a highlight of his campaign.
