LINCOLN, Neb. (July 17, 2025) — The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball program has been recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for its academic performance during the 2024–25 season, earning the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. Additionally, seven Prairie Wolves were named to the NABC Honors Court, which honors individual academic achievement by upperclassmen student-athletes.

To be eligible for the team award, a program must post a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, factoring in all student-athletes who appeared in a varsity game during the 2024–25 season.

Seniors Carter Glenn, Conner BrownHayden Christen, Jack Groeteke, and Seth Newton were joined by juniors, Tavian Wilsea and Duke Thomas as NWU's seven Honor Court recipients. The award recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student-athletes who carry a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and have spent at least one full year at their current institution.

On the court, the Prairie Wolves finished 20–7, advancing to the A-R-C Championship game before falling to Central. Off the court, the program continued its long-standing emphasis on academic consistency and leadership development.

Under Wellman, NWU has consistently been among the A-R-C's best not only in wins, but also in the classroom , a standard that dates back to his arrival in 2014.
