Box Score How It Happened
The Prairie Wolves showed their grit against a tough Doane squad, with several matches coming down to crucial points that could have swung momentum.
At No. 2 doubles, the duo of Crystal Craft and Caitlin Hudson electrified the home crowd with aggressive net play. Doane's Calderon/Schroller dug deep, stealing the set 7-5. The narrow loss seemed to fuel Craft, who came out firing in No. 2 singles. She traded brutal baseline rallies with Espinosa, before Doane's experience prevailed in the final games.
Anna Burt had the toughest assignment at No. 1 singles against Doane's ace Purizaca. After a slow start, Burt found her rhythm in the second set, fighting through a marathon match. Though she fell 6-0, 6-3, the late resistance showed her growth against top competition.
