Gallub Caps NWU Wrestling Season with Fifth-Place Finish at NCAA Regionals

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling closed out its season at the NCAA Lower Midwest Regionals on Saturday, with Jared Gallub leading the way with a fifth-place finish at 141 pounds. While no Prairie Wolves advancing to nationals, the team showcased grit and determination in its final outing of the year.

How It Happened
Jared Gallub entered Day 2 with a chance to secure a spot in the national tournament, but his path took a tough turn in the semifinals. Facing Tommy Thongseng of Wartburg College, Gallub battled hard but fell in a decision, 7-5. The loss dropped him into the consolation bracket, where he faced Loras' Jalen Schropp in a hard-fought match. Despite a strong effort, Gallub came up short, losing 10-8 and ending his national qualifying hopes.

However, Gallub didn't let the setbacks define his day. In the fifth-place match, he faced Zander Payne of the University of the Ozarks and delivered a decisive fall victory in fourty seconds to cap his tournament on a high note. The win marked a strong finish for the junior, who went 3-2 on the weekend and solidified his status as a key leader for the Prairie Wolves.

At 133 pounds, Robbie Fisher fought valiantly but came up short in both of his matches on Day 2. Fisher dropped a decision to Cornell's Eli Sneed in the consolation bracket before falling to the University of the Ozark's Javin Douglas in the seventh-place match. Despite the tough day, Fisher's eighth-place finish highlighted his growth and resilience throughout the season.
