Matthies Earns United Soccer Coaches All-Region Honors

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan junior forward Max Matthies capped his breakout campaign with a spot on the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's All-Region IX Fourth Team.

The regional nod adds to an already decorated season for the Omaha native, who was tabbed First Team All-American Rivers Conference earlier in November. Max is the first men's soccer player since 2002 to receive All-Region honors.

Matthies emerged as NWU's most inventive attacker this fall, driving the Prairie Wolves' possession through the final third with sharp instincts and a knack for unlocking defenses. During the final stretch of the regular season, he delivered goals in matches against Wartburg, Central, Buena Vista and Coe, each one fueling NWU's late push as the Prairie Wolves claimed two of their last three regular season contests.

He finished his junior year atop the NWU stat sheet with seven goals, three assists and 17 total points while averaging 1.69 shots per match. His efficiency and ability to create in transition made him the spark NWU needed down the stretch and a centerpiece for what's ahead in 2026.
