NWU Alum, Christina Boesiger Honored as AVCA Girls High School Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball alum Christina Boesiger added another major milestone to an already decorated coaching career Thursday night, as she was officially honored as the 2025 AVCA Girls High School Coach of the Year during the AVCA Honors Banquet in Kansas City.

Boesiger, the longtime head coach at Norris High School, was announced as this year's national winner on November 26 following a dominant 38–1 campaign that culminated in the 2025 Nebraska Class B State Championship. The title was her third at Norris (2013, 2014, 2025) and one that capped one of the most successful seasons in program history.

Across her 25-year coaching career, Boesiger has transformed the Titans into a perennial state power. Her résumé features 577 career wins, 13 conference championships, three state titles, four state runner-up finishes, and recognition as the 2015 Lincoln Journal Star Coach of the Year, 2022 NCA All-Star Coach, 2024–25 NCA Coach of the Year, and 2024 Omaha World-Herald Female Coach of the Year. In 2024, she earned her 500th career victory and joined the prestigious AVCA Victory Club.

Before rising to statewide prominence as a coaching figure, Boesiger built one of the most decorated athletic careers in Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball history. Inducted into the NWU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014, she graduated as the school record holder in four categories, including single-season kills (613), season digs (634), career digs (1,626), and career service aces (237). Her 237 aces remain the NWU career record.

A four-time all-conference performer, Boesiger earned First-Team All-Nebraska Iowa Athletic Conference honors three straight years and closed her collegiate career as an AVCA All-Central Region selection, becoming just the fifth Prairie Wolf ever to earn All-Region recognition. She finished her time at NWU ranked second all-time in career kills (1,434) and remains among the top defensive players in program history.

"Winning the AVCA National High School Coach of the Year is an incredible honor," Boesiger said. "To me, it reflects the heart of our program—faith, hard work, and a group of young women who commit to something bigger than themselves. It's a celebration of the players, families, and community who pour their hearts into this program. I'm humbled and grateful. Coaching is about shaping character, nurturing dreams, and walking alongside incredible athletes, and this award represents all of us."
Boesiger has long credited her NWU experience as shaping the values she carried into her coaching career. Those principles are evident at Norris, where her teams have become synonymous with discipline, consistency, and championship-level preparation.

"My time at NWU shaped me in every way—as a player and now as a coach," she said. "It taught me how to compete with heart, work with purpose, and lead with gratitude. The lessons I learned there still guide me every single day."

With the AVCA's top national honor now added to her résumé, Boesiger continues to stand as one of the most accomplished volleyball figures in Nebraska, both as a Prairie Wolf and as one of the state's premier high school coaches.

Nebraska Wesleyan celebrates her achievements today as she is recognized among the nation's best in Kansas City.
