Prairie Wolves Battle No. 4 Wartburg in Road Dual

WAVERLY, Iowa (November 12, 2025) — Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling faced one of the nation's premier programs on Wednesday night, falling 54-0 to fourth-ranked Wartburg in American Rivers Conference action at Levick Arena.

The dual marked NWU's third of the season, dropping the Prairie Wolves to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in league competition. Despite the score, Nebraska Wesleyan battled toe-to-toe against a Wartburg lineup loaded with nationally ranked wrestlers, as the Knights recorded a fall or technical fall in each of the ten bouts.

At 125 pounds, seventh-ranked Brett Birchman opened the dual with a quick takedown, but NWU's Qunton Chavez fought hard to escape twice before falling by technical fall in the third period.

Isaiah Graves provided one of the evening's highlights at 133 pounds. The senior notched an early takedown on Bowen Brunson before getting caught and pinned midway through the second period.

True freshman Cy Peterson showed grit at 157, managing three escapes against Caleb Olson before being tech-falled late in the second period. Across the lineup, the Prairie Wolves continued to compete through every period despite facing a Wartburg squad featuring multiple nationally ranked wrestlers.

The Knights completed the dual sweep with a combination of six technical falls and four pins to remain unbeaten on the season.

Nebraska Wesleyan now turns its attention to tournament action, returning to the mats in two weeks at the 8-Man Battles in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
