Peterson, Fisher Highlight Season Opener at Luther Hill Invitational

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling team opened the 2025–26 season with a strong showing at the Luther Hill Invitational, hosted by Simpson College on Saturday (Nov. 1). It was a day filled with development and promise for a youthful Prairie Wolves roster, as 20 wrestlers took the mat in the season's first competition.

The invitational marked the beginning of year two under Head Coach Colton McCrystal.

Sophomore Robbie Fisher highlighted the day with a championship performance at 141 pounds in the Freshman/Sophomore bracket. Fisher went a perfect 4-0, earning wins by technical fall, major decision, and two hard-fought decisions on his way to the title. In the championship bout, Fisher controlled the pace from start to finish to secure his first collegiate tournament win.

Freshman Cy Peterson also made a splash in his collegiate debut, finishing runner-up at 157 pounds in the Freshman/Sophomore division. Peterson racked up three victories on the day, including a tech fall, a major decision, and a decision win, before falling 6-3 in the title match.

At the open level, Isaiah Graves finished fifth at 133 pounds, going 2-2 with a pair of gritty decision wins. Kellen Monroe also placed fifth at 157 pounds, going 3-2 and rebounding with two straight victories to close out his day.

The Prairie Wolves will return to action Wednesday, November 5, when they host Central College inside Snyder Arena for their first dual of the season at 6:00 PM.
