Volleyball Drops Conference Finale to Coe

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball saw its three match win streak get snapped in a 3-1 loss to Coe College. NWU now sits 16-8 overall, and 4-4 in A-R-C play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sets One and Two: Both the first and second sets ended in 25-23 Coe victories, but followed vastly different scripts. In set one, Nebraska Wesleyan got out to an early 8-7 lead, as Molly Ramirez made her presence felt, scoring half the team's points with four kills. However a 7-3 Kohawk run gave Coe a 14-11 lead. Nebraska Wesleyan would answer with a 4-2 run to cut the Kohawks lead to one. From there Coe kept NWU at arms reach to take the set. In set two, Coe jumped out to a dominant 18-9 lead, before the Black and Gold responded with two points. However, Coe retook a 24-15 advantage, before Nebraska Wesleyan embarked on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to one. Jera Schuerman and Ella Foote led the comeback effort with two kills a piece. However, Coe shut down the rally with a set deciding point.

Set Three: Nebraska Wesleyan doubled down in the third set, bursting out to a 6-3 lead, before Coe countered with a 12-4 run to pull ahead 15-10. However, a Kohawk attack error flipped the momentum, as Molly Ramirez and Macy Plucker followed up with kills to cut the deficit to one. While Coe responded with a kill to retake a two point advantage, a Kohawk error coupled with Molly Ramirez and Macy Plucker kills tied the set at 16. The Black and Gold then went on a 5-1 run to gain a 21-17 advantage, before Coe cut the lead to two with a pair of kills. The Prairie Wolves would quickly rebound as Ava Stone and Ella Foote recorded kills, before Stone ended the set with a pair of aces.

Set Four: While Macy Plucker gave NWU a quick 1-0 lead, Coe would go on to dominate set four, defeating NWU 25-11.
