Prairie Wolves Show Fight in St. Olaf Triangular

Northfield, Minn. — The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team battled through two tough matchups at the St. Olaf Triangular on Friday, October 4, falling 3–0 to host St. Olaf College and 3–1 to the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. Despite the setbacks, the Prairie Wolves continued to display progress, balance, and poise against two strong regional opponents.


HOW IT HAPPENED

Match 1: St. Olaf 3, Nebraska Wesleyan 0

Nebraska Wesleyan opened the day against a talented St. Olaf squad, putting together several strong stretches before ultimately dropping a competitive straight-set match.

Freshman  Macy Plucker led the attack with 9 kills and 4 service aces, while Molly Ramirez added 8 kills and.Jera Schuerman chipped in 6. Elecea Saathoff directed the offense with 28 assists, and Raegan Holle paced the defense with 10 digs.

The Prairie Wolves showed resilience throughout the match, forcing long rallies and keeping the Oles under pressure despite falling short in key late points

Match 2: Wisconsin–La Crosse 3, Nebraska Wesleyan 1

In the afternoon, NWU bounced back with an energetic performance against UW–La Crosse, taking the third set and staying within striking distance in the others before falling 3–1.

Jera Schuerman powered the offense with 11 kills, followed by Ella Foote with 8 and Molly Ramirez with 7. Foote and Ava Stone each recorded 4 blocks at the net, while Saathoff dished out 30 assists and added 4 aces. Holle anchored the back row with 15 digs, and Grace Dehmer added 8.

With the losses, Nebraska Wesleyan falls to 11-6 overall (1-2 A-R-C) St. Olaf improved to 12-6 (3-0 MIAC), while UW–La Crosse moved to 15-7 (0-3 WIAC)

The Prairie Wolves return home to Snyder Arena on Tuesday, October 14 to take on College of Saint Mary at 6:00 PM.
