INDIANOLA, Iowa — Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling faced a challenging field at the American Rivers Conference Duals on Saturday, taking on three nationally ranked opponents. The Prairie Wolves emerged with a 1-3 record, highlighted by a hard-fought victory over Simpson.
How It Happened
Nebraska Wesleyan opened the day against No. 11 Coe College, falling 45-6. Jared Gallub earned one of NWU's two wins, securing a 4-2 decision at 141 pounds, while Seth Littrell battled to an 11-10 victory at 165 pounds.
The Prairie Wolves rebounded in their second dual, defeating host Simpson College 26-18. Gallub dominated at 141 pounds with a 19-4 technical fall, and Travis Guzman pinned his opponent in just 43 seconds at 149 pounds. Littrell added a 4-0 decision at 165, and Emilio Chavez secured a pin at 174 pounds. Casey Kinnell capped the dual with a first-period fall at 197 pounds, sealing the team win.
In their third match, NWU faced No. 9 Loras College, falling 43-6. Gallub delivered another strong performance with a 2-1 decision at 141 pounds, while Sam Weaver secured an 8-6 win at 184 pounds.
The day concluded with a 42-7 loss to No. 19 Luther College. Gallub picked up a sudden victory at 141 pounds, and Guzman dominated his opponent at 149 pounds with a 9-0 major decision.
