DECORAH, Iowa - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's swimming team battled Luther College on Friday evening but came up short in a 144-93 dual loss.
How it Happened
The Prairie Wolves started strong, claiming first in the 200-yard medley relay. NWU's "A" team of Elena Lazzaretto, Ava Hunt, Sydney Leslie, and Lydi O'Neil took first with a time of 1:54.76.
Nebraska Wesleyan notched individual wins in several events. Lazzaretto claimed the 200-yard individual medley in 2:16.59, and Hunt followed up with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:12.91.
Luther dominated the freestyle distance events, but NWU made noise in the sprints. O'Neil and Beatrice Massa Micon finished top five in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.92 and 2:07.12 respectively). Beatrice Massa Micon also took first in the 100-yard freestyle (56.03). Hannah Gibbs and Lizzie Meyer added third and fourth-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.33 and 26.35 respectively.
On the relay side, the Prairie Wolves' 200-yard freestyle relay team of O'Neil, Meyer, Gibbs, and Lazzaretto touched second with a time of 1:44.51.
What's Next
Nebraska Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday for another meet in Decorah. The Prairie Wolves will compete at the Norse Sprint Invite starting at 12 p.m.
