LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan junior Elena Lazzaretto has been named the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Women's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending 1/19 after a record-breaking performance at the Grinnell Invitational.
Lazzaretto was instrumental in helping the Prairie Wolves finish second overall in the 11-team field, contributing to 674.5 total points. She set a school record in the 100-yard individual medley, winning the event with a time of 1:00.64 after breaking the record during prelims with a time of 1:00.11. Lazzaretto also helped the 800-yard freestyle relay team place second with a school-record time of 8:01.70.
Additionally, Lazzaretto secured third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (24.57) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:50.13) in a weekend filled with standout performances.
This is Lazzaretto's fourth career A-R-C Women's Swimmer of the Week honor.
The Prairie Wolves return to action on January 25 when they host Morningside in Lincoln.
