Volleyball Goes 1-1 in Cornell Triangular

LINCOLN, Neb. (September 28, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball competed in a triangular at Mount Vernon, Iowa, facing off against Cornell College and Macalester College. The Prairie Wolves went 1-1 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan started strong with a 25-21 victory in the first set. However, Cornell rallied to win the next three sets (25-19, 27-25, 25-17), taking the match 3-1. In the third set, NWU pushed Cornell to extra points, but the Rams were able to hold on and shift the momentum for the remainder of the match. Kobie Patten led NWU with 15 kills, while Addie Thomas and Aliah Clarke contributed ten and nine kills respectively.

MACALESTER COLLEGE

HOW IT HAPPENED
In their second match, Nebraska Wesleyan battled through four sets, ultimately winning 3-1 to Macalester. NWU dropped the first set 25-16 but responded with a 25-16 victory in the second set. The Prairie Wolves fought hard in a closely contested third set, winning 28-26, before the Prairie Wolves closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the fourth set. Patten once again was a leadder in the attack with 10 kills, while Sydney Benson shined from the service line, delivering four aces.

Nebraska Wesleyan will look to bounce back as they prepare to host their home opener match at Snyder Arena on Wednesday, October 2. The Prairie Wolves will face off agains Simpson College in their conference opener. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
