Women's Tennis to Rekindle Rivalry with Doane, Before Returning Home to Face Simpson

LINCOLN, Neb. (September 17th, 2024) - Fresh off a 4-3 victory over Hastings College, Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis is set to visit Doane, and host Simpson this week.

LOCATION & MATCH TIME
Nebraska Wesleyan will visit Doane College on Tuesday, September 17th, at Newburg Held Tennis Complex, in Crete, Nebraska. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Nebraska Wesleyan will host Simpson College on Friday, September 20th, at  LSF Sports Complex, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan (2-2, 1-1 A-R-C) won one of two matches last week. The Prairie Wolves were defeated by Concordia 5-2, but responded by winning a close 4-3 match over Hastings College. The match saw Crystal Craft, Anna Burt, Parker Brown, and Addi Duranski pick up singles victories. In singles action, Nebraska Wesleyan has posted a 14-10 record. 

MASTERING HER CRAFT
After an injury held her from competition last season, senior Crystal Craft has returned to the court in a big way in 2024. Through four matches, she has tallied a 3-1 record in singles play. Craft has also been strong in doubles play posting a 3-1 record with partner Addi Duranski. As a reward for her performance, Craft was named A-R-C Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week that ended on September 8th. 

HEAD COACH LEE STEINBROOK 
Lee Steinbrook is entering year six as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. Under his leadership, the Prairie Wolves have continued to grow and compete at a high level, with multiple players earning conference honors. Steinbrook's commitment to developing both the athletic and academic skills of his players has been a cornerstone of the team's success. 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN WOMEN'S TENNIS HISTORY
Nebraska Wesleyan has a history of success in women's tennis, winning 16 conference regular season championships, and seven conference tournament championships. 

A LOOK AT DOANE COLLEGE
Tuesday will mark the second match of the season for Doane. The Tigers were defeated by Truman State, 4-3, in their last match. The Tigers are coached by Ed Hubbs, who is in his ninth season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST DOANE COLLEGE
Nebraska Wesleyan and Doane will meet for the 15th time since 2003. In those games Nebraska Wesleyan holds a 9-5 series lead, which includes a 5-2 victory on April 2nd, 2024.

A LOOK AT SIMPSON COLLEGE
Simpson College enters this week with a 2-2 record. The Storm won their first two matches, but have been outscored by their last two opponents 13-1. The Storm are coached by Nicole Berger, who is in her first season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST SIMPSON COLLEGE
Friday will mark the ninth meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson, with each team winning four of the previous eight matches. Last September, Nebraska Wesleyan defeated the Storm on the road 5-0.
