HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan (3-0, 0-0 American Rivers) moved to 3-0 on the season following a convincing three set victory over Shenandoah (1-2, 0-0 ODAC) on Saturday, August 31st.. The first set was tightly contested, featuring three lead changes and neither team managing to gain more than a five point lead.
Kobie Patten guided Nebraska Wesleyan to a 25-22 set victory with six kills.
Nebraska Wesleyan cruised to a 25-11 victory in set two.
Addie Thomas and
Kobie Patten led the Prairie Wolves with five and three kills respectively. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan had a .400 hitting percentage in the set.
Nebraska Wesleyan continued to dominate in the third set winning 25-14, and closing the game on a 7-1 run.
Elecea Saathoff,
Addie Thomas, and
Sydney Benson each had one service ace in the set.
As she did on Friday,
Addie Thomas again led NWU to victory recording 12 kills and contributing 10 digs. Her performance was complemented by
Kobie Patten, who totaled 15 kills on an outstanding .583 hitting percentage. Setter
Elecea Saathoff added 35 assists and recorded six digs. Defensively,
Raegan Holle finished with 10 digs. The Prairie Wolves finished with eight blocks as a team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan (3-1, 0-0) suffered their first loss of the season to the University of Wisonsin-Superior (4-0, 0-0 UMAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets took a highly competitive, back and forth, first set by a score of 32-30. Nebraska Wesleyan's offense was led by
Addie Thomas and
Molly Ramirez, who finished the set with six and five kills respectively.
Wisconsin Superior secured another close victory in set two, winning 25-19. Nebraska Wesleyan started strong, leading 15-12 and seemingly had control of the set before the Yellow Jackets went on a 10-4 run to secure the victory.
Needing a win to prolong the match, Nebraska Wesleyan dug deep and ground out a 25-17 win in set three.
Addie Thomas and
Kobie Patten played a key role for NWU in the set, finishing with four and three kills respectively. Patten also pitched in with a service ace.
Wisconsin Superior closed the door on a potential comeback with a 25-16 victory in set three. Nebraska Wesleyan fought hard and led 11-9 before being outscored 16-7 the rest of the way.

Nebraska Wesleyan will travel to Minnesota to compete in four matches next weekend. The Prairie Wolves will face the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and George Fox University on Friday, September 6th, before playing Gustavus Adolphus College, and Augsburg University on Saturday, September 7th.
