Ten Prairie Wolves Set to Travel to 2024 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Lincoln, Neb. (May 17, 2024) -  Nebraska Wesleyan track and field will send ten athletes to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

MEET INFO
The meet will begin on Thursday, May 23, and conclude on Saturday, May 25.
The national championship meet will be held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN NCAA QUALIFIERS
WOMEN
  • Isabella Hogue (200 & 4x400): Isabella Hogue is making her third consecutive appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. Hogue is a two-time national champion winning the NCAA Division III Outdoor 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash in 2022. This season, Hogue took home the American Rivers Conference outdoor 200 title with a time of 24.10. Hogue has also been a spark for the 4x400-meter relay team, where she helped the group run a time of 3:46.23 at the Augie Twilight Qualifier.
  • Bre Geary (4x400): Bre Geary is making her third appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. This season, Geary has helped Nebraska Wesleyan's 4x400-meter relay team run a converted time of 3:46.23, which ranks third in the country.
  • Kiarra Fennell (4x400): Kiarra Fennell is making her first appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. This season, Cummins has helped Nebraska Wesleyan's 4x400-meter relay team run a time of 3:46.23, which ranks eighth in the country.
  • Natalie Cummins (4x400): Natalie Cummins is making her first appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. This season, Cummins has helped Nebraska Wesleyan's 4x400 meter relay team run a time of 3:46.23, which ranks eighth in the country.
  • Isabella Hilger (4x400): Isabella Hilger is making her second appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. Hilger will be an alternate at the meet. Her open 400 meter dash time is 58.28.
  • Avery Decker (Javelin): Avery Decker is making her third consecutive appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. Decker earned her second career All-American honor last year, where she finished third. The senior sits second in the country with a throw of 45.37m.
  • MEN

  • Eli Etherton (110-Meter Hurdles): Eli Etherton is making his first appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. Last season, Etherton won the men's indoor 60-meter hurdles national championship. This season, Etherton ran a personal best time of 14.19 in the 110-meter hurdles at the American Rivers Conference outdoor championships.
  • Eli Mackowski (High Jump): Eli Mackowski is making his second appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. His last appearance occurred in 2023, where he finished 20th. This season, Mackowski was named conference champion at the American Rivers Conference outdoor championships and jumped a personal best height of 2.10 meters at the USD Invite.
  • Morgan Conner (Long Jump): Morgan Conner is making his second appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships and his first time as a jumper. This season, Conner jumped 23' 11" at the USD Invite, which puts him 17th nationally. 
  • Colin Wojtkiewicz (Hammer Throw): Colin Wojtkiewicz is making his first appearance at the NCAA outdoor championships. Wotjkiewicz sits 19th in the country with a throw of 58.27, which was achieved at the American Rivers Conference outdoor championships. 
HEAD COACH DERRICK MCKENZIE'S PROFILE
Derrick McKenzie was named Nebraska Wesleyan's director of track and field and cross country in the summer of 2023. In his first season as head coach, Nebraska Wesleyan saw four conference champions and six other all-conference performances. Prior to being named head coach, McKenzie spent eight years at Nebraska Wesleyan as the sprint and relays coach. During this period, McKenzie helped 39 athletes earn All-American honors with 10 being national champions. McKenzie also coached 79 all-conference performers with 22 being conference champions. In 2019 McKenzie was named the Central Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
