Softball Wraps Up Spring Games with Two Victories

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lincoln, Neb.- Nebraska Wesleyan softball wrapped up its stay in Florida by defeating the University of Northwestern and SUNY Geneseo

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles got out to a quick start in the top of the first by scoring two runs.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan took the lead in the fourth by scoring four runs. The first came on an error by Northwestern's third basemen that allowed Hanna Roth to score. A Sami MacDonald RBI single tied the game at two. Bre Schneidewind gave Nebraska Wesleyan a 3-2 lead with an RBI single to center field. Paige Davison extended the lead with an RBI single to right field. After four innings of play, the Prairie Wolves led 4-2.
  • Sami MacDonald put the Prairie Wolves up by three with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. MacDonald would later score on an single from Taylor Korecky.
  • A sacrifice fly from Lyndsey Roth made the score 7-2 in the bottom of the sixth. The Prairie Wolves would keep the Eagles scoreless in the top of the seventh to earn the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nebraska Wesleyan started strong scoring one run in the top of the first. 
  • The Prairie Wolves would add two more runs in the top of the second. 
  • Nebraska Wesleyan extended its lead in the fourth by scoring two more runs. However, SUNY Geneseo responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan opened up an 8-1 lead with three runs in the top of the fifth. The Knights responded by scoring five runs in the bottom half of the inning. 
  • SUNY Geneseo cut the Nebraska Wesleyan's lead to one in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't tie the game as Nebraska Wesleyan earned an 8-7 victory.

Nebraska Wesleyan returns to Lincoln to host the Concordia Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 13th. Game one is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. Game two is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
