LINCOLN, Neb. (March 5, 2024) - Following a 77-63 victory over UT-Dallas in the second round of the NCAA tournament, Nebraska Wesleyan is set to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Sweet Sixteen

SERIES RESULTS
Friday will mark the first match up between Nebraska Wesleyan and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. 

ROAD TO THE SWEET SIXTEEN

• Nebraska Wesleyan was selected as an at-large bid after falling to Loras in the American Rivers Conference tournament championship game. Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a 25-4 overall record and earned a share of the American Rivers Conference regular season title. Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Centenary College in the first round of the tournament 58-41. The Prairie Wolves defeated UT-Dallas 77-63 in the Round of 32 
• Claremont-Mudd-Scripps defeated California Lutheran 61-55 in the SCIAC tournament championship game to clinch an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Stags dispatched St. Thomas University, 78-71 in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Then in the Round of 32, the Stags defeated Whitworth University 69-67. 

SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Friday with a 25-4 record. Peter Lash has scored a team-high 504 points and is averaging 17.4 points per game. Lash has also recorded a team-high 236 rebounds and is averaging 8.1 rebounds per game. Carter Glenn leads the Prairie Wolves in assists with 101 and steals with 76. Jack Groeteke has recorded a team-high 56 blocks. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan is averaging 76.4 points per game. The Prairie Wolves are shooting 45.9% from the floor with a 33.7% mark from three. Nebraska Wesleyan is shooting 78.3% from the free throw line. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves are allowing 66.4 points per game. 

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN'S PROFILE
2023-24 American Rivers Conference Coach of the Year Dale Wellman is in his 10th year as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. Wellman enters Saturday with a 193-67 record. In his tenure, Wellman has won two national coach of the year and eight conference coach of the year awards. In 2018, he coached Nebraska Wesleyan to a 30-3 overall record and its first national championship. Wellman has won five regular-season conference titles and three conference tournament titles. 

CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE
Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships. 

BREAKOUT GAME IN TEXAS
Landon Torneten played a huge part in Nebraska Wesleyan's second round victory over UT-Dallas, scoring a season high 14 points. Torneten also grabbed four rebounds and had one steal.
