LINCOLN, Neb. (February 29, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling team traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to compete in the 2024 NCAA Lower Midwest Regionals. Unfortunately, no Prairie Wolves were able to make it out of Day 1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jared Gallub picked up the Prairie Wolves' first win of the day. After receiving a bye in the first round, Gallub won by decision over North Central's Kenny Siwicki (Dec. 9-6). The junior was then stopped in his tracks and eliminated from the tournament by wrestlers from the A-R-C's Wartburg College and Luther College.
- Seth Littrell escaped a tight battle on top, as he defeated Fontbonne's Micah Dennis by a 6-4 decision. Unfortunately, Littrell was handed a tech fall and a decision in back-to-back matches, removing him from the bracket.
- At 174 lbs., Andrew Luna held tough in the consolation rounds. In Cons. Round 3, Luna put an end to Schreiner's Gavin Wahl's season with a major decision, 18-4. The California native would then go on to be eliminated via fall to Huntingdon's Nick Kendrick.
- Sam Weaver earned the final win for Nebraska Wesleyan at the NCAA Lower Midwest Regionals. Weaver wrestled to a 7-5 decision victory in Round 1 of the Championship bracket. The junior advanced to round two, where he was defeated by Central's Gage Linahon and eventually eliminated by Simpson's Shane Mathias.
