Nebraska Wesleyan Wrestling Falls 51-0 to Wartburg in Dual

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling faced a tough test on Friday, dropping a 51-0 decision to #2 Wartburg College in their dual matchup at the Prairie Wolves' home opener. Despite strong individual performances, the Prairie Wolves were unable to overcome the Knights' dominance, who continued their strong season with the decisive victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The dual opened at 125 pounds, where Christopher McClanahan squared off against Wartburg's Zein Bazzi. McClanahan put up a valiant effort, but Bazzi's high-pressure style led to a technical fall in just 4:27, giving Wartburg a 5-0 lead.

At 133 pounds, Robbie Fisher faced off with Jamal Chakkour. Fisher battled through some tough spots but was ultimately pinned in 6:54, pushing the Knights' lead to 11-0.

In the 141-pound match, Jared Gallub showed resiliency against Kyler Romero, but Romero managed to edge Gallub out with a 4-3 decision, bringing the score to 14-0 in favor of Wartburg.

Wartburg continued to dominate as Travis Guzman faced Ian Crapp at 149 pounds. Crapp delivered a dominant 20-4 technical fall in 6:36, further extending the Knights' lead to 19-0.

The 157-pound matchup saw Kaden Ontiveros  battling Blain Christie. Ontiveros held his ground but ultimately fell to Christie by a major decision, 10-2, as the score climbed to 23-0.

At 165 pounds, Seth Littrell squared off with Carter Proffitt. Littrell had a strong start but was outpaced by Proffitt, who finished the match early with a technical fall in 5:49, extending Wartburg's lead to 28-0.

Diontrell Evans faced Colton Berg at 174 pounds, and after a hard-fought battle, Evans was pinned in 2:35, giving Wartburg a commanding 34-0 advantage.

In the 184-pound match, Sam Weaver had a tough draw against Matthew Doyle, and despite strong effort, Weaver was pinned in just 1:46, increasing the Wartburg lead to 39-0.

At 197 pounds, Habeeb Raji took on Greyson Gardner. Raji had a great start but was eventually pinned in 48 seconds, making it 45-0 in favor of Wartburg.

The dual closed out with the heavyweights at 285 pounds, where Donovan Mann fought Dillon Bailey. Despite a valiant effort, Mann was pinned in 3:21, securing a 51-0 victory for Wartburg.
