Nebraska Wesleyan Wrestlers Find Success with Top Finishes at Haws/Elton Rumble Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling took home several top finishes at the Rumble Invitational on Sunday, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and strong performances across weight classes. Jared Gallub led the Prairie Wolves with a first place finish in the 149-lb weight class.

How It Happened

At 125 pounds, Christopher McClanahan advanced to the finals with strong performances but ultimately fell to Sioux Falls' Jaxton Packer by technical fall in the title match, finishing second. Teammate Julian Long also made an impact, claiming sixth place in the 125-pound bracket.

The 133-pound division saw impressive showings from several Nebraska Wesleyan wrestlers. Robbie Fisher and Quinton Chavez advanced through the bracket, ultimately sharing second place after an internal forfeit in the final. Randy Guerra added a fourth-place finish after a hard-fought match against Calvin Empkey of Sioux Falls, while Isaiah Graves captured fifth place with a pin over Jimmy Wollenberg of Minnesota North-Itasca.

Jared Gallub shined for Nebraska Wesleyan at 149 pounds, winning the title with a commanding 16-2 major decision over Sioux Falls' Mitchell Koss in the championship match. . Kellen Monroe also secured a sixth-place finish at 149 pounds.

At 157 pounds, Kaden Ontiveros reached the finals, where he faced Lincoln Fink of Sioux Falls and ultimately fell in a close decision, finishing second. Christian Keller also made a strong showing, placing fourth after a loss to St. John's Owen Carlson in the third-place match.

Seth Littrell represented NWU well in the 165-pound bracket, battling through a tough field to take third place after a technical fall victory over teammate Logan Hede in the final consolation round. Hede ended the day in fourth place.

In the 174-pound category, Emilio Chavez captured third place for NWU with a pin over St. John's Jon Gettel in the third-place match, delivering another strong finish for the Prairie Wolves. Sam Weaver rounded out Nebraska Wesleyan's top performers, taking second at 184 pounds before falling to Daevon Vereen of Sioux Falls in the championship match by technical fall.

In the upper weight classes, NWU continued to demonstrate resilience. At 197 pounds, Devin Diaz fought through a competitive bracket to claim fourth place. Although he fell to Jordan Silvera of St. John's in the third-place match by fall, Diaz's effort highlighted NWU's depth in the upper weights.

Heavyweight Donovan Mann also delivered a strong performance at 285 pounds, finishing in fourth place. After advancing through the bracket, Mann was edged out by Wyatt Newsham in the third-place match.
