Men's Soccer to Host Simpson in First Round of A-R-C Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (November 1st, 2024) - After winning its most conference matches since 2017, Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer earned the right to host Simpson in the first round of the 2024 American Rivers Conference Tournament.

LOCATION, GAME TIME, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson are scheduled to do battle at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2nd. The match will be played at Abel Stadium, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats

TICKET INFORMATION
Ticket prices for Saturday's match are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students without a valid A-R-C ID. Children under 5, as well as all current students with a valid A-R-C ID, are admitted free. Tickets must be purchased with cash.

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan (10-7, 5-3 A-R-C) fell to Bethel College, 1-0, in their last match. This season, NWU recorded five conference wins for the first time since 2017, securing fourth place in the final standings. Saturday's match marks the second time NWU has hosted the first round of the A-R-C tournament. Over 17 regular season games, the Prairie Wolves averaged 1.76 goals per game while allowing 1.18. They have taken 227 shots, with 105 on target, and notched 24 assists.

HEAD COACH BRANDON BONILLA
Brandon Bonilla is in his seventh season as head coach, with an overall record of 49-47-14. Last season, he led the Prairie Wolves to their first 10-win season since 2017 and the program's first Region IX top-10 ranking since 2001.

STACKING SUCCESS
Nebraska Wesleyan has achieved back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 2007-2008. Their two-year record of 20-11-4 marks the program's best two-year stretch since going 23-12-1 in 2007-2008.

A-R-C TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Saturday will mark Nebraska Wesleyan's sixth appearance in the A-R-C soccer tournament. In their previous five tournaments, NWU has posted a 2-5 record, with semifinal appearances in 2017 and 2022. Last season, they suffered a 1-0 loss to Dubuque in the first round.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN SOCCER HISTORY
The Prairie Wolves have claimed four conference championships and hold an all-time record of 295-233-47, highlighted by an undefeated 19-0 season in 1999.

SCOUTING THE STORM
Simpson (8-8-2, 4-3-1 A-R-C) comes off a 3-2 victory over Coe. The Storm average 1.61 goals per game and allow 1.61, with 244 shots (104 on target) and 26 assists. Simpson is led by head coach Rick Isaacson, in his 14th season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST SIMPSON
Saturday's match will mark the 30th meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson. Simpson leads the all-time series 15-10-4. In their regular season match-up, NWU defeated Simpson 1-0.
