DUBUQUE, IOWA, (October 5th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer was dealt a 2-0 loss by Loras College, Saturday evening. The loss drops Nebraska Wesleyan to 5-5 overall, and 0-2 in American Rivers Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan came out strong, firing three shots in the first five minutes. However, it was Loras who struck first, netting a goal at the 9:43 mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Prairie Wolves quickly sought to respond, taking two more shots in the 13th minute, but both were saved by the Duhawks' goalkeeper. Moments later, Loras capitalized again with a second goal at the 15:52 mark, making it 2-0.
The remainder of the first half saw little offensive action, with both teams combining for just three shots. Despite outshooting Loras 6-2 in the half, NWU couldn't close the gap before halftime.
In the second half, Nebraska Wesleyan kept the pressure on, taking eight shots. However, the Prairie Wolves were unable to break through Loras' defense, and the Duhawks held on for the shutout win.
