STORM LAKE, Iowa (October 16, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball continued its strong American Rivers Conference campaign with a 3-2 victory over Buena Vista University at Siebens Fieldhouse. The Prairie Wolves improved to 16-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Buena Vista fell to 5-16 overall and 0-4 in ARC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan came out strong in the first set, controlling the pace early and capitalizing on Buena Vista's errors to win 25-18. The Prairie Wolves posted 11 kills and hit .121, while limiting Buena Vista to a .059 hitting percentage. NWU briefly lost momentum in the second set as the Beavers responded with better offensive rhythm, taking the set 25-21. Despite the setback, the Prairie Wolves remained composed, with Molly Ramirez leading the attack to keep the match tight.
In the pivotal third set, Nebraska Wesleyan bounced back, securing a 25-21 win thanks to 17 kills and a .222 hitting percentage. Buena Vista didn't go quietly, winning the fourth set 25-18 behind 12 kills, forcing a fifth set. The Prairie Wolves took control early in the final set, storming out to a 9-3 lead. NWU's offense was unstoppable, hitting .412 with nine kills on just 17 attempts, clinching the match with a 15-6 victory to seal the hard-fought win.
