Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. (October 18, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball fell to Doane University in a 3-1 loss at Snyder Arena. The Prairie Wolves dropped to 16-6 overall and 3-1 in American Rivers Conference play, while Doane improved to 8-15 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan started strong in the first set, jumping out to an early lead and controlling the pace with 14 kills to win 25-17. Kobie Patten led the attack with four kills, while Elecea Saathoff orchestrated the offense with 11 assists. The Prairie Wolves' defense was solid, limiting Doane to a .026 hitting percentage and forcing eight attack errors.
However, Doane rallied in the second set, overcoming a strong 57% sideout percentage from NWU to take the set 25-20. Despite a valiant effort from Addie Thomas who had nine kills in the set, the Prairie Wolves struggled to maintain momentum. In the third set, Doane capitalized on Nebraska Wesleyan's offensive miscues, winning 25-17 and putting pressure on the Prairie Wolves to respond.
In the fourth set, Nebraska Wesleyan battled fiercely, pushing the score to a tight 25-23, but ultimately fell just short. Saathoff's consistent setting and Thomas' powerful swings helped keep the Prairie Wolves in the game, but Doane's late-set surge proved decisive. Despite the loss, NWU showed resilience, with Raegan Holle anchoring the defense with 13 digs and Patten contributing on both ends, finishing the match with 11 kills and 19 digs.
