DECORAH, Iowa (October 12th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball bounced back from its first conference loss of the season with a resilient 3-1 victory over Luther College. The win moves Nebraska Wesleyan to 15-5 overall and 2-1 in American Rivers Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Luther set the tone early in set one, building a commanding 13-5 lead behind strong serving and offensive pressure. Nebraska Wesleyan tried to close the gap with a 13-7 run, narrowing the Norse lead to just two points at 20-18. However, Luther regained momentum, finishing the set with five of the last six points to claim a 25-19 victory. The Prairie Wolves were left searching for answers as they prepared for the second set, knowing they couldn't afford to fall into an 0-2 hole.
In set two, Nebraska Wesleyan responded in dominant fashion. A balanced attack, led by Addie Thomas with four kills, helped the Prairie Wolves surge to a 25-15 win. They came out strong from the start, executing effectively on both offense and defense to control the pace. Set three started with both teams exchanging points before Luther managed to tie it at eight. However, Nebraska Wesleyan seized control with an impressive 10-0 run, jumping out to an 18-8 lead. The Prairie Wolves never looked back, taking the set 25-13 and shifting the match in their favor.
Set four was hard-fought, as Luther came out aggressively, grabbing an early 10-5 lead. Nebraska Wesleyan quickly countered, responding with a critical 9-0 run to pull ahead 14-10. The Prairie Wolves held off every push from the Norse, maintaining a steady lead to secure the set 25-18 and clinch the match 3-1.
