HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling team picked up a 37-10 conference win over Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa on Wednesday night.Â
- To begin the night, at 125 lbs. Julian Long received a forfeit win to give the Prairie Wolves an early 6-0 lead.
- Quinton Chavez followed things up with a 20-3 decision win over Nolan Nguyen at 133 lbs.Â
- Jimmy Macias and NWU took another forfeit win to propel their advantage to 17-0.
- After a defeat at 149 lbs., Travis Guzman got the Black and Gold back in the win column with a 10-1 over Hayden Stout.
- The Prairie Wolves would then go on to win their next three matches. Seth Littrell picked up a 20-10 statement win over Max Mashek. Zeth Gekensmeyer outscored his opponent 12-4, and Caleb Schwerdtfeger took care of Luis Salazar 11-1.Â
- With two matches to go, Nebraska Wesleyan found themselves up 33-5.
- Buena Vista University recorded their second win of the night, but the comeback was out of reach.
- Tashaud Nelson closed the show at heavyweight with clean 8-0 dominance.
- Coach Bradley and NWU picked up their second dual win of the season and their first conference win.Â
