Men's Soccer Gears Up for Three Match Week

LINCOLN, Neb (September 4, 2023). On Wednesday night, Nebraska Wesleyan hosts Dordt University as they kick off their first home game of the 2023 season. Friday night, the Prairie Wolves take on Westminster College, and on Sunday, they hit the road to face the Moorheads of Concordia College.

A LOOK AT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan traveled to Colorado College to open the 2023 season. The Prairie Wolves are coming back to Lincoln with a 2-0 win against the Foresters of Lake Forest College and a 2-2 tie against the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University. Thomas Distefano claimed the first goal of the season against the Foresters, followed by Bryan Andrade's goal in the last 10 minutes of the game to seal the deal for the Prairie Wolves. Nebraska Wesleyan handed Lake Forest College their first shutout since October 15, 2022. During the matchup against Pacific Lutheran University, freshman Owen Glogowski claimed his first goal of the season, tying the game between the Lutes with a penalty shot, ending the game in a draw. This is the second time since 2015 that the Prairie Wolves have been unbeaten through their first two matches.

A LOOK AT DORDT UNIVERSITY
The Dordt Defenders are coming off two wins against Union College and Central Baptist. The Defenders' 18-0 win against Union College was led by Jacob Narkis, Quintin Olson, and Yura Rozendal, who all recorded hat-tricks. Dordt held off the Mustangs of Central Baptist with a 4-0 win. Marco Laenen gives the Defenders a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 55th minute of the game. Blake HansenJacob Narkis, and Tate Hansen recorded goals of their own to claim victory for the Defenders.

A LOOK AT WESTMINSTER COLLEGE
The Blue Jays began the season under the guidance of their new head coach, Brian O'Connor, with the goal of enhancing their performance compared to last season's 3-11-5 record, respecfully. Westminster College is coming off a loss against the Central College Dutch. The Blue Jays put up a strong fight but couldn't manage to score, while Central remained solid in their defensive efforts. In the end, the Dutch secured a 2-0 win over the Blue Jays. Westminster gets a chance to redeem themselves as they conclude the Labor Day weekend. The Blue Jays will face Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Monday, September 4th.

A LOOK AT CONCORDIA COLLEGE
The Cobbers opened up their season in Dubuque, Iowa. Concordia scored a goal in both the first and second halves, securing a 2-1 victory over Dubuque. In the first half, sophomore Gannon Brooks provided the Cobbers with a 1-0 advantage by netting a goal from a 25-yard free kick. The pivotal moment of the game occurred in the 77th minute, as Jensen Waltz made a crucial save on a penalty kick, preserving the Cobbers' 2-1 advantage. In under a day following their victory in the season opener against Dubuque, Concordia suffered a defeat to Loras, the preseason favorite in the A-R-C. Leo Dunor scored to bring the final total to 4-1.
