Volleyball Sweeps Storm

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After defeating Simpson (4-13, 0-1) today, the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves (9-5, 1-0) are on a four-game winning streak to begin the conference season. 25-19, 25-10, and 25-15 were the scores for the Prairie Wolves.
  • Jaclyn Riedl, who had nine kills and a. 214 hitting %, was the Prairie Wolves' leader. She was followed by Addie Thomas, who had six kills. The Prairie Wolves received 25 assists from Elecea Saathoff.
  • The first set of the day included two ties and two lead changes. In the opening set, the Prairie Wolves and the Storm traded points up to a 5-5 tie. After Simpson went on a 5-0 run, Nebraska Wesleyan's 21-12 advantage was reduced to 21-17. The Prairie Wolves scored their last point thanks to an error by Simpson, winning the opening set 25-19. 
  • The Prairie Wolves dominated set two, controlling it from start to finish after taking a 7-5 lead. The Prairie Wolves extended their lead to seven at 17-6 before going on a 6-0 run to help close it out.
  • With a 2-0 advantage, the Prairie Wolves attempted to win all three sets and finish the sweep, but the Storm refused to give up easily. When the score was tied at 12, Simpson made a handful of offensive mistakes, which led to a five point Prairie Wolves surge and a 17-12 lead. The Prairie Wolves and Storm traded points until the Prairie Wolves went on another 7-0 run. Riedl finished it off with a kill to give the Prairie Wolves a 25-15 victory.
