Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • A strong performance in the center circle by Nebraska Wesleyan's Elise Warneke contributed to the defensive slugfest. Warneke went six innings, surrendering just four hits while striking out eight Spartans. 
  • The Prairie Wolves offense was held in check all game. Coach Mary Yori's team struck out six times, while finding the hit column five times. 
  • A RBI double by senior Emma Alfieri to left field brought Shelby Gunther in to score as the Prairie Wolves tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning. 
  • Following an error with two outs by the NWU infield brought in a run to give the Dubuque Spartans a 2-1 lead after the sixth inning. 
  • The Prairie Wolves were able to get the tying run on base with a pinch hit single by sophomore Addie Duranski. Duranski was stranded on base, and the Prairie Wolves were defeated 2-1.
Game 2
  • In the second game of the double header the Prairie Wolves got out of the gate fast, loading the bases with zero outs. Sami MacDonald singled to bring in Hanna Roth, before the black and gold squad stranded three runners. 
  • The Spartans took off immediately starting in the bottom of the first inning. The Prairie Wolves surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Scoring stalled until Dubuque added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning after stringing multiple hits together. 
  • The duo at the top of the Prairie Wolves lineup was dominant. Hannah Roth and Emma Alfieri combined for five of the seven hits for the black and gold, going 2-3 and 3-3 respectively.
  • Dubuque continued to separate from NWU as the Prairie Wolves struggled to get outs on defense, and to crack the hit column. Nebraska Wesleyan lost to Dubuque 9-1 in five innings.
