Softball Concludes Mankato Dome Games With a Three Wins

Concordia College (Minn.)
  • NWU had all cylinders firing on offense on Sunday, winning big over Conordia College (Minn.) 16-3.
  • Val Gerlach was able to put NWU on the board first with a 2 RBI single in the first inning.
  • Prairie Wolves added on to their offensive explosion in the second, notching six more runs. Gerlach, Rylee Pangborn, Bre Schneidewind, Kenzie Heedum, and Hanna Roth, led the way, all driving in runs.
  • Isabella Harris earned the victory on the rubber, surrendering just two runs on one hit over three innings and striking out six. Kenna Ford threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Ford recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Prairie Wolves. 
  • The black and gold toatled 12 hits. Schneidewind and Gerlach each racked up multiple hits for NWU. Schneidewind went 3-for-3 at the plate.
St. Catherine University
  • Game 2 was a heartbreaker for the Prairie Wolves. Losing the lead late in a 7-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with St. Catherine University batting in the bottom of the sixth when the St. Kates doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
  • Despite the loss, NWU out-hit St. Catherine University, eight to six.
  • Sami MacDonald led Nebraska Wesleyan University with two hits in three at bats.
  • Elise Warneke was handed her first loss of the season, Warneke allowed six hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out seven.

  • "Going 3-1 on the weekend is a great start for the season. We hit the ball very well against solid pitching and our pitchers all had strong outings."

The Prairie Wolves will be back on the field come the week of March 5th They begin their trip to Florida with a competitive matchup against Marietta College. First pitch is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
