St. Catherine University
- A walk-off walk led Nebraska Wesleyan University past St. Catherine University 5-4 on Saturday in the season-opening game. The game was tied at four with Sami MacDonald at the plate. MacDonald drew a walk scoring the game winning run.Â
- NWU earned the victory despite allowing St. Catherine's to score three runs in the first inning.Â
- Elise Warneke led the Prairie Wolves to victory on the rubber. The ace surrendered three runs on five hits over eight innings, striking out five.Â
- NWU tallied one home run in the game. Jenna Kimberling went yard in the seventh inning.
- The Prairie Wolves totaled nine hits in the game. Valerie Gerlach, Paige Davison, and Kimberling each had multiple hits for NWU.
St. Mary's University (Minn.)
- Game number two also came down to the wire, with Nebraska Wesleyan taking the victory on a dramatic walk-off single that sealed the victory. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when Valerie Gerlach singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring the winning run.Â
- There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Nebraska Wesleyan collected 12 hits compared to St. Mary's eight. Paige Davison went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Prairie Wolves
- In the sixth inning, Bre Schneidewind's popped a three-run home run to tie the game at six.
- Isabella Harris started the game for the Prairie Wolves. She went five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one. Rylee Pangborn threw one inning of relief out of the bullpen before Elise Warneke entered the circle. Warneke pitched one inning striking out the side.Â
