Volleyball Dominates Coe

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball moved to 2-0 in A-R-C play after dominating the Kohawks of Coe College in three sets on Friday night.
  • Kobie Patten started set one with two service aces. The Prairie Wolves' early momentum carried them to a 15-11 lead. NWU would then go on a 5-0 run, which included a kill and service ace by Addie Thomas and a handful of attack errors by the Kohawks. While Coe College played catch up, the Black and Gold kept their foot on the pedal, sealing set one with a kill by Thomas, 25-18.
  • Set two showed similarities to set one, with Nebraska Wesleyan starting on another 5-0 run. Addie Thomas recorded six kills, while Jaclyn RiedlAliah Clarke, and Molly Ramirez contributed 4.5 more points. The Prairie Wolves shut down any hope for the Kohawks, jumping to a two-set advantage, 25-22.
  • NWU's offense continued to improve as the night went on. In the third and final set, Black and Gold hit an evening best of .414% on 29 total attacks. The front row of Nebraska Wesleyan, led by fifth-year Nyah Chambers, forced Coe College to hit just .069% in the third set, respectfully. As Snyder Arena bled black and gold, the Prairie Wolves finished the night with four straight points, concluding the sweep.
  • Friday's performance marks NWU's first win over Coe College since 2019 and the first sweep over the Kohawks since 2008.
