Men's Soccer Earns Regional Ranking; Looks to Stay Hot Against Wartburg and Coe

LINCOLN, Neb (October 2, 2023) - On Wednesday afternoon, Nebraska Wesleyan will welcome Wartburg College to their home turf for their sixth game of the 2023 season. On Saturday night, the Prairie Wolves will travel to face off against Coe College.

A LOOK AT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN 
The Prairie Wolves recently achieved a significant victory against Loras College, clinching a 2-1 victory. This marks the second time the Prairie Wolves have beaten Loras since joining the A-R-C, with their previous triumph dating back to 2017. Nebraska Wesleyan currently holds the fourth position in the American Rivers Conference standings, with a record of 7-1-2. Standout performances from the weekend include Jaden Hayes, who netted both goals in the Prairie Wolves' game against Loras College, securing the win for the Black and Gold. Additionally, Zachary Weis made an impressive contribution with four saves.  

Adding another notch to their historic start, NWU enters the week ranked eighth in Region IX. This is the first time the Prairie Wolves have been regionally ranked in 22 years. Also, Wednesday's contest against Region IX #4 Wartburg College will be the first ever ranked matchup inside Abel Stadium in program history. 

A LOOK AT WARTBURG COLLEGE 
Wartburg College is welcoming back a group of thirty-four returning players and has also introduced thirteen talented freshmen to their roster for the 2023 season. In the previous season, they finished with a record of 7-2-9, earning a commendable 4th place in the American Rivers Conference. As the 2023 season progresses, Wartburg currently sits at the top of the conference standings with a record of 6-0-4.Their next match against Nebraska Wesleyan will be the Knights' eleventh game of the season.

A LOOK AT COE COLLEGE 
The Kohawks are geared up for the 2023 season, featuring a roster consisting of eighteen returning players and sixteen promising freshmen. In the previous season, Coe College achieved an 8th place ranking in the American Rivers Conference standings. Presently, their record stands at 5-3-2, placing them in the 7th position in the American Rivers Conference standings for the 2023 season. The Kohawks will continue their season, with an upcoming match against the University of Dubuque scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th.
