Volleyball Tops Simpson in Straight Sets

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Prairie Wolves front line shutdown the outside hitters for the Storm in Set 1. Simpson finished the first set with 10 kills and 10 errors, while Nebraska Wesleyan recorded 14 kills on just five errors. NWU held the upper hand, 1-0. Back-to-back kills from Mackenzie Scurto and Addie Thomas set up the black and gold for the final point of the set.
  • Head Coach Rayna Cain saw a huge jump of offensive production in the second set. The Prairie Wolves stayed clean, hitting .308% and scoring on 12 kills. NWU went on a 7-1 run to start out Set 2 and closed things out by forcing two Simpson errors and a service ace from Kennady Klein. Nebraska Wesleyan moved their lead to, 2-0.
  • Winning in straight sets wasn't easy for the black and gold. The Storm lead for the majority of the third set and even held a 23-21 advantage in the final moments. After an Erica Hopping kil to make things 22-23l, Addie Thomas stepped behind the service and delivered two aces in the last three points. 
  • Nebraska Wesleyan topped conference foe, Simpson College in straight sets Wednesday night and begins A-R-C play 1-0 for the first time since 2019.

  • "The team came out aggressive, confident and fired up. They did a great job of controlling the net and tempo of the game. It was great to see them work as a team and get the sweep."

The Prairie Wolves (7-3,1-0) continue there home stand on Monday, September 19, as they host Peru State State College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
