Norse Knocks Off Softball On The Road

DECORAH, Iowa. (April 9, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team dropped a road doubleheader at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. NWU fell in game one, 6-0, and narrowly dropped game two, 7-5.

Game One Recap
After NWU retired four straight batters, Luther found a spark with four runs in the third inning then added two more runs in the sixth inning. Despite being limited to three hits, the Prairie Wolves put pressure on the defense with two of those hits going for doubles. Both Hanna Roth and Taylor Styskal recorded a double in the game.

Game Two Recap
NWU's offense would not be held down and outhit Luther in game two. The Prairie Wolves scored a run in the first inning when a Val Gerlach double plated Hanna Roth. Nebraska Wesleyan had to counter a Luther rally in the top of fourth inning and got it with two run single from Paige Davison. Davison's single cut the lead down to 5-3.

In need of another rally, NWU picked up a run in fifth inning with an RBI single from Kailey Meyer then another RBI single in the sixth inning from Roth. But the Norse were able to stop the momentum and escape with a two-run victory.

Nebraska Wesleyan travels to Indianola, Iowa for a midweek doublehder on Wednesday, April 13 with Simpson College.
