Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
CLERMONT, Fla. (March 8, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team swept its two games on Tuesday in Clermont, Florida. The Prairie Wolves stormed back to win game one against Cornell College, 9-8 in eight innings, then defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 3-1, in game two. NWU has won five of its last six games in Florida, including the last three games.

Game One Recap
After giving up four runs in the first inning, NWU rallied late to push the game into extra innings. The Prairie Wolves got on the board with a run in the third inning then added to two more runs in the fifth inning to make it a 5-3 game.

After the Rams scored to make it an 8-3 game, Nebraska Wesleyan roared back with five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Emma Alfieri and Val Gerlach sparked the rally with back-to-back two-run doubles to cut the lead to one run. A hard hit grounder from Taylor Styskal scored Addie Duranski to tie the game.

In extra innings, the Prairie Wolves left little doubt. After forcing a double play, Kailey Meyer struck the next batter out. On offense, Alfieri turned a fielder's choice from Gerlach into the walk-off winning run.

Game Two Recap
In game two, Nebraska Wesleyan's pitching and defense held RPI in check allowing just six hits and one run. The Prairie Wolves scored two quick runs off of the bat of Kailey Meyer in opening frame. Meyer hit a single to left field to score both runs in the inning.

NWU then scored again in the fourth inning when Hanna Roth singled to left center. The hit plated Bre Schneidewind to make it a 3-0 ballgame. The Engineers managed to get a run in the seventh but nothing more.

Kailey Meyer picked her fourth win of the year tossing another complete game. Meyer allowed just one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts.
