Central Spoils Back-To-Back Road Wins

PELLA, Iowa. (February 7, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell on the road to Central College, 57-50, in Pella, Iowa.

Midway through the third quarter, NWU looked like it would secure back-to-back conference road wins and avenge a loss to Central less than a week earlier. Delaney Roberts put in a lay-up from Anna Vandenack for a 12 point advantage, their largest lead of the game, with 5:45 left in the third quarter. The Prairie Wolves were on a 19-4 run in nearly eight minutes of game time. The run was ignited when Rhett Partridge hit a jumper at the 3:28 mark of the second quarter.

However, Nebraska Wesleyan's run stalled out and the Dutch countered with a big run of their own. Over the final 15 minutes, Central outscored NWU 34-15 and escaped with a win. The offensive went cold for the Prairie Wolves as they only netted eight points in the final period.

NWU held Central in check throughout the first two quarters. The Dutch only made two three-pointers in the first half and shot just 23.5 percent from the field. Nebraska Wesleyan's defensive put pressure on Central and forced eight turnovers in the opening half. The Prairie Wolves transitioned those turnovers into nine points and built a 10 point lead just eight minutes into the first quarter.

Delaney Roberts led Nebraska Wesleyan with 11 points and three assists. Rhett Partridge grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and was credited with two blocks. Partridge secured 10 rebounds for the second straight game and fourth time this season.
