HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Prairie Wolves' season debut had them paired against the number one ranked wrestling team in the country, Wartburg College. Junior Zeth Gerkensmeyer came through with a win in his first match of the season.
• Elsewhere, Nebraska Wesleyan's Jared Gallub fell by decision at 149, 10-6, and Emmanuel Zepeda was defeated by decision at 184.

• "It was a great start to the season at home with the energy of the crowd behind us."
• "We faced a good team tonight, but we showed flashes that we can compete with top opponents. Zeth got his hand raised in a hard fought match and I think it showed our young guys that they can do great things here at NWU."

• On Saturday, the Prairie Wolves will compete again at Rochester Community and Technical College's Yellowjacket Open. 10 a.m. is the scheduled start time for the wrestling from Rochester, Minnesota. It will be the first of seven invitationals on Nebraska Wesleyan's schedule for 2022–23.
