HOW IT HAPPENED
- Loras scored the first point of the match, but the Prairie Wolves reeled off a 13-2 run to go up 13-3. The Prairie Wolves continued to hold their advantage as Addie Thomas, Sydney Hauptman and Nyah Chambers all put down kills to make it 18-13. The margin increased to 20-15 after kills from Thomas and Mackenzie Scurto. The Prairie Wolves finished the first set strong winning it 25-19.
- In the second set, the Prairie Wolves got off to a quick 5-1 lead. Chambers and Kobie Patten connected with senior setter Erica Hopping for kills, and the Prairie Wolves pushed their lead to ten at 17-7. After two straight points by Loras, Chambers rolled another kill to the floor to give the Black & Gold a set point at 24-18. The Duhawks managed to close the gap to 24-20, but a kill from Addie Thomas handed NWU the victory, 25-20.
- The third set was back and forth featuring nine ties, and five lead changes. The Prairie Wolves biggest lead of the set was five, with an 18-13 advantage. But the Duhawks came back with an 8-1 run to take the lead 22-20. Scurto recorded three kills, and Loras made a hitting error, allowing NWU to take the lead 24-22. Loras responded scoring three straight points. A Hauptman kill tied the set at 25, but the set finished with Loras winning it 27-25 after two straight Prairie Wolf errors.
- A kill and an ace by Thomas helped NWU go up 7-4 in the fourth. Loras closed the gap to one, 7-6, but Hauptman recorded a kill to increase the score to 9-7. Scurto and Thomas added kills before an ace by Chambers made the lead four, 14-10. Thomas added two more kills to make the Prairie Wolf lead six points, 18-12. Scurto's third kill of the set brought the score to 23-20, but the Duhawks scored three straight points to tie the score at 23. Back to back kills by Addie Thomas secured the set and the match for the Prairie Wolves.
