Volleyball Closes Weekend with Two Sweeps

HOW IT HAPPENED
Dallas Christian College

  • In the opening set, the first few points were evenly contested, but Nebraska Wesleyan rallied to take the lead at 8-4. The Black and Gold increased their lead to 13-6 thanks to a Nebraska Wesleyan run that was highlighted by Mackenzie Scurto's four kills. The Prairie Wolves won by a score of 25-16 thanks to a 19-7 kills advantage.
  • With two aces from Kobie Patten in the second set, NWU surged out to an 8-0 lead. Addie Thomas and Nyah Chambers each had two kills as Nebraska Wesleyan continued to dominate on offense, giving the Prairie Wolves a 15-2 advantage. NWU grabbed set point at 24-11 and won the set, 25-11, on an ace by Erica Hopping.
  • The Prairie Wolves exploded to a 17-6 lead in the third with multiple kills from Thomas, Taylor Holter, and Aliah Clarke. The Prairie Wolves ran away with the sweep winning the final set 25-11.

Schreiner University

  • First set action on Saturday afternoon started off well for the Prairie Wolves, who quickly took a 5-3 lead thanks to kills from Thomas, Chambers, and Hopping. With the help of a kill from junior Shae Gallery, Nebraska Wesleyan's lead reached as many as eight at 21-13. Schreiner persevered, scoring twice down the stretch and bring the score to 23-17, but NWU found a way to win it, giving the Prairie Wolves the 1-0 advantage over Schreiner. 
  • The Prairie Wolves struck first and controlled Saturday's second set. Nebraska Wesleyan held Schreiner to 13 points in the set, embarking on an 8-0 run that featured kills from Scurto, Patten and Chambers to secure a striking 25-13 victory in set two that pushed it ahead 2-0 in the match.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan never trailed in set number three. Scurto secured the Prairie Wolves' second sweep of the day with an ace. 25-18
