Colorado College Holds Off Women’s Basketball

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 4, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to Colorado College, 49-41, at Snyder Arena in the final non-conference game of 2021-2022 season.

A jumper from the top of the key by Ellie Bream put NWU down by one point with just under 2:30 left in regulation. Bream's jumper capped a 16-7 run by the Prairie Wolves in the fourth quarter and erased an 11 point deficit heading into the quarter. Nebraska Wesleyan fueled the run by shooting 66.7 percent from the field and holding Colorado College to a 20 percent shooting percentage over the run.

But the Tigers found a way to hold off the Prairie Wolves with a 7-0 run to finish the game. Down the stretch, CC would go a perfect 3-for-3 at the free-throw line and made both of their field goal attempts. NWU's offensive went cold during the final two minutes, missing the final four field goals, including three three-pointers.

Ellie Bream and Sarah Hultquist gave Nebraska Wesleyan a spark off the bench as the duo combined for 23 of the team's 41 points. Bream finished with 12 points, scoring in double-digits for the fifth time this season. Hultquist netted 11 points, matching a career-best.

As a team, NWU forced CC to shoot just 30.6 percent from the field, the third lowest percentage by an opponent this season. From the three-point line, the Prairie Wolves held the Tigers to shoot 18.5 percent, also the third lowest by an opponent this season.
