BVU Slows Down Women’s Basketball

STORM LAKE, Iowa (January 26, 2022) – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell on the road, 63-45, to Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa.

NWU looked poised to notch their second straight victory with a strong start to the game. The Prairie Wolves recorded an early 7-4 run midway through the first quarter for the early lead. But BVU found a way to escape the quarter with a 13-12 advantage. The Beavers stretched the lead to 10 points in the second quarter before Nebraska Wesleyan was able to cut it down to 35-30 at halftime.

However, offensive woes in the third quarter stalled any momentum NWU built. The Prairie Wolves offense went cold, shooting just 1-for-11 from the field and knocking down a pair of free-throws. Buena Vista was able to push their lead up to 20 points with 4:55 left in the game but Nebraska Wesleyan would not go away quietly. NWU limited to the Beavers to just four points the rest of the way.

Anna Vandenack led the Prairie Wolves with 13 points. Vandenack shot 50 percent from the field with a pair of free-throws and a three pointer. Delaney Roberts added in 12 points for Nebraska Wesleyan, going 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. It is the second straight game that both Vandenack and Roberts scored in double figures.
