Prairie Wolves Force Second Split In Viking Classic


ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (September 18, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball went 1-1 on day two of the Viking Classic in Rock Island, Illinois. NWU, fell in game one, 3-0, to Wisconsin-Platteville then defeated Lake Forest, 3-1.

The Prairie Wolves handled the Foresters in the first two sets, winning by a score of 25-19 in both sets. NWU had 27 kills in the first two sets, highlighted by a hitting percentage of .429 as a team in the first set. After the Foresters won the third set, the Prairie Wolves bounced back with a 25-15 victory in the fourth set. In the last set, NWU crushed 14 kills.

Defensively, Nebraska Wesleyan held Lake Forest to hit .000 in the first set. In the second set, NWU forced the Foresters to hit -.140 followed by -.176 in the third set and .036 in the final set. 

Against Wisconsin-Platteville, Nebraska Wesleyan recorded 19 kills and nine aces as a team. The Pioneers landed 33 kills and 18 aces.

Addie Thomas led the Prairie Wolf attack with 16 kills on the day with Nyah Chambers adding 13 kills. Erica Hopping dished up 25 assists and Grace Hogeland had a team-best eight service aces. Mackenzie Scurto tallied 24 digs and Chambers recorded five blocks in the seven sets. 

UP NEXT
Nebraska Wesleyan is off until Wednesday, September 29 when it returns to conference play with a match against Buena Vista. It will be the first home match of the 2021 season for NWU.
