Prairie Wolves Roll To Two More Wins, Remain Undefeated

SUPERIOR, Wis. (September 11, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball continued its winning ways with a sweep over Bethany Lutheran and a 3-1 victory over Macalester in the 2021 Subway Stingers Classic in Superior, Wisconsin. NWU has won six matches in a row to begin the season undefeated.

The Prairie Wolves wasted little time putting away the Vikings in the first match. NWU took set one 25-21 before controlling the next two sets by a score 25-13 in both sets. Nebraska Wesleyan landed seven aces in the match and forced Bethany Lutheran to hit -0.077 in the third set.

In the final match, NWU faced set point in the first set after a kill by the Scots. However, Nebraska Wesleyan responded with back-to-back kills by Addie Thomas to tie the match. After a Macalester attack error, another Thomas kill lifted the Prairie Wolves to victory. The teams traded sets in the second and third, both by a score of 25-17. Nebraska Wesleyan raced out to an early 10-3 lead in the fourth set and never looked back, winning 25-19.

Addie Thomas and Mackenzie Scurto combined for 40 of NWU's 76 kills in the two matches. Erica Hopping paced the team with 34 assists. Defensively, Shae Gallery and Sidney Hauptman each had three blocks and Kennady Klein recorded 32 digs over the seven sets.
