INDIANOLA, Iowa (September 15, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball had its six-match winning streak snapped on the road at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Simpson won the match, 3-1, to open American Rivers Conference action.Â
The Storm narrowly won the first set, 25-23, to open with a 1-0 match lead. However, NWU responded by winning the second set, 25-21, to tie the match at one set apiece.
Addie Thomas landed six kills in the set with
Mackenzie Scurto adding five more kills. As a team, the Prairie Wolves had 15 kills with a .342 hitting percentage in the second set.
Simpson countered Nebraska Wesleyan with wins in the third and fourth sets, both by a score of 25-14. The Storm were able to best NWU at the service line, 9-7, in match and became the first team this season to finish with more aces than the Prairie Wolves.Â
Thomas led Nebraska Wesleyan with 12 kills and five aces, which was Thomas's career-best for aces in a match. Scurto landed 10 kills over the four sets.
Kennady Klein tallied 17 digs from the libero position and
Shae Gallery recorded two block assists at the net.
Erica Hopping and
Cassidy Plooster combined for 31 assists in the match.

Nebraska Wesleyan travels to Rock Island, Illinois for four matches in two days at Augustana College. NWU leads off the tournament with Knox College on Friday, September 17 at 6 p.m.
