Prairie Wolves Picked Seventh in Coaches Preseason Poll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 20, 2021) - The American Rivers Conference announced its 2021 Football Coaches Preseason Poll. Nebraska Wesleyan was picked seventh in the annual poll with 19 points.

Last season, NWU was limited to one game in the spring due to the COVID-19 global health pandemic. The Prairie Wolves return 17 seniors to the gridiron for the 2021 season. Colton Davis and Jacob Garnas headline the group of returning seniors.

Davis is a two-time All-A-R-C performer and will again anchor the offensive line this fall. Davis was an honorable mention selection in 2019 and a second-team pick in 2018. From the linebacker position, Garnas led the team and the conference with 107 total tackles in 2019. Garnas also joined Davis on the 2018 second-team All-Conference team.

Nebraska Wesleyan opens the 2021 season on Saturday, September 4 against Eureka College. Kickoff for the home opener is set for 1 p.m. at Abel Stadium in Lincoln. NWU begins American Rivers Conference action on Saturday, September 18 at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
